Along with our full line of reflector and micro-structured optic materials, WhiteOptics will be presenting LIO™ (Linear Integrated Optic). LIO helps control light distribution with an astounding >96% optical efficiency, and can be adapted for a variety of potential patterns. This creates flexibility for the designer, and can be tailored for beam control, batwing or asymmetrical distributions.

WhiteOptics® has created two new Micro-Structured Optics Films; the DF120-20 and the DF 7002:
The DF120-20 Split diffusion Optics structure creates a “batwing” optical distribution by combining a 120 degree beam split optic with 20 degrees diffusion. Additional beam split and diffusion amounts are possible. The DF7002 is a 70° x 2° elliptical diffusor microstructure that can be used to uniformly diffuse linear LED sources in without affecting off-axis optical distribution.
Both structures are available as an optical film or bonded to rigid acrylic sheet.
WhiteOptics® is excited to add these two highly efficient optical structures to our portfolio of innovative products. For more information, please reach out to your WhiteOptics’ Representative or request samples through our website.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW CASTLE, Delaware, September 12, 2014 –WhiteOptics, LLC, a leading provider of highly reflective, highly diffuse white reflector products for LED and fluorescent lighting, was recently selected and utilized in a custom lighting retrofit project for the entire IM Pei designed building located at 1105 N. Market Street in Wilmington, DE. The goal for the project was to reduce electricity consumption by over 50% without compromising light levels.
Using patented reflector technology, WhiteOptics engineers designed a custom lighting reflector to perfectly suit the existing light fixtures while simultaneously reflecting and diffusing the maximum amount of light into the space below. With the addition of the custom built reflectors, energy service company Seiberlich Trane was able to remove two 32-watt fluorescent lamps from each fixture and replace them with only one 28-watt lamp, reducing electricity consumption by 56%.
“We’re delighted to have been chosen for this interesting project. We were able to leverage our energy saving technology and accommodate the particular needs of this unique building,” said Eric Teather, President of WhiteOptics. “Our materials are used in energy efficient lighting throughout the world, but it is especially rewarding to be able to deliver these significant energy savings in a retrofit application right here in our hometown.”
“This is a wonderful example of the use of clean technology innovation to improve energy efficiency without any adverse impact for the consumer,” said Ben DuPont, President of yet2.com, a technology transfer advisory firm, and tenant at 1105 N Market. “The retrofit was done overnight with absolutely no disruption to our office. We’re now using less than half as much electricity for the same – if not better- light.”
WhiteOptics is an advanced materials company manufacturing and distributing the most highly reflective, diffuse white coatings to enhance lighting efficiency and design. About Wavefront Technology
Wavefront Technology was formed in 1986 by technology professionals focused on holography and advanced optics. Today, the company has grown to nearly 60 employees operating in over 60,000 square feet of laboratory, warehouse and manufacturing space in Paramount, CA near Los Angeles International Airport. The company has become a leading expert on using micro-structured features to diffuse light in a controlled manner. More information is available at www.wft.bz.
“Intellectual property of small businesses must receive stronger protections against would-be copycats, said Sen. Chris Coons on Thursday.
Coons visited New Castle-based WhiteOptics, which makes high-performance lighting components. The company makes the raw materials for energy-efficient LED lighting.
Earlier this month, Coons, along with Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, introduced the Defend Trade Secrets Act. This would make it easier for companies to protect their trade secrets in federal court.
WhiteOptics has four federal patents, and company officials hope the bill would allow it to better protect those patents.
Taking action to protect a company’s trade secrets requires a lengthy process that companies sometimes find isn’t worth pursuing, Coons said. The bill would allow a company to go to court and get an injunction the next day, along with stopping the secrets from leaving the country, and a seizure order, he said.”
